Ghadeer in Ahadith

In The Name of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

Amirul Mominin Maula Ali (a.s.)

Ghadeer in Ahadith
In the tenth year after the migration to Madinah, the year which later became known as Hajjatul Wida' [The (year of the) farewell Hajj], the Muslims who had accompanied the Noble Prophet (s) to Makkah were finishing their Hajj rites. Once the Hajj was complete, the Prophet (s) and those with him were making their way back to Madinah and the other cities from which they had come.

When they reached Rabigh - a spot three miles from Juhfah, one of the miqat for the Hujjaj - the order came from Allah (s.w.t.) to halt the entire caravan.

At this point, the Truthful conveyor of the revelation, Jibra'il (a.s.) came to the Prophet (s) who was stationed in the valley known as Ghadeer Khumm and revealed the following verse of the Qur'an to him:

“O’ Messenger! Convey that which has been revealed to you from your Lord and if you do not do so, it is as if you have not conveyed His message at all, and Allah will protect you from the people…”
(Suratul Maidah (5), Verse 67)

Since this verse commanded the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) to stop right where he was, he himself and those with him, halted in the valley of Ghadeer.
It was noontime, and as can be expected, the weather was extremely hot. The Noble Prophet (s) performed Salatul Zuhr in congregation, and then with multitudes of people around him, ascended to a small platform built from camel saddles and other things that the Muslims had with them.

In a loud voice, he gave a long speech and said to the people: “O’ people! Know that shortly I shall answer the call of The Truth (Allah) and will no longer be among you – I have a responsibility (to Allah) and you too have a responsibility (towards Him).”

The Prophet (s) then mentioned something very important to the people and stated: “I am leaving behind two weighty things to you as a trust – one of them is the Book of Allah, and the other is my family, the Ahlul Bait. These two shall never separate from one another. O’ people! Do not attempt to supersede the Qur'an and my family, and do not be negligent in your actions towards these two, because if you do so, you shall be destroyed.”

After stating this, he took the hand of 'Ali (a.s.), raised it up and introduced him to the multitudes of people and asked: “Who has more of a right over the believers than their own selves?” Everyone present proclaimed: “Allah and His Prophet know better.”

The Noble Prophet (s) then said: “Allah is my master and I am the master of all the believers and I have more right and authority over the believers than they have over their own selves.”

Then he continued:
“Whomsoever I am his master, this 'Ali is also his master. O’ Allah! Befriend he who befriends him ('Ali) and oppose he who opposes him.”
The Angel of Revelation, Jibra'il (a.s.) once again descended by the order of Allah (s.w.t.) and this time, revealed the following verse of the Qur'an:
“On this day have I completed your religion for you and perfected My bounties upon you and am pleased with Islam as being your religion.”
“Whomsoever I am his master, this 'Ali is also his master. O’ Allah! Befriend he who befriends him ('Ali) and oppose he who opposes him.”- Holy Prophet Mohammed (s.a.w.s.)

Therefore, this day was marked in history as a momentous and grand day. The day of Ghadeer was a day of epic proportions in history. It was a day which would become known as the Day of Wilayat (Mastership); the Day of Imamate (Leadership); the Day of Wisayat (Successorship); the Day of Brotherhood; the Day of Valour; the Day of Courage, Bravery and Protection (of the faith); the Day of Pleasure for the Believers; and they Day of Candidness.
It was a Day of:
(Divine) blessings;
Showing thanks to the Almighty;
Conveyance of the message;
Congratulations and felicitations;
Happiness, delight and gift giving;
The pact and promise and renewal of the Pledge of Allegiance;
Completion of the religion;
Expression of the truth;
Grief of Shaitan;
Introducing the leader and the (true) path;
Testing (the faith) of the Muslims;
Despair for the enemies;
Hope for the (true) friends.

In summary, it was the Day of Islam, Qur'an, and the Ahlul Bait (a.s.). It was the day which the followers of the true teachings of the faith of Islam mark with great esteem and a day when they congratulate one another.
It can be understood from the Ahadith that the A'immah (a.s.) took this day as one of celebration and used to hold special programs to celebrate this event. It has been narrated from Fayyadh ibn Muhammad at-Tusi that, “I was in the presence of the 8th Imam on the day of Ghadeer (18th of Dhul Hijjah).

I saw a particular group of people serving the Imam and the Imam was (intentionally) keeping them in his house until the time of sunset came so that he may give them food to eat (and thus enable them to break their fast). The Imam ordered that food, new clothes, shoes, rings, and other gifts be sent for their families. In the house, I noticed that the state of all of those present was something completely different than normal, and it was from those people that I learned the greatness and magnitude of this day.” (Biharul Anwar, volume 97, page 112, hadith 8)

In another Hadith it has been mentioned that one day during the days of the “open caliphate” of Imam 'Ali (a.s.), the day of Jumu'ah and 'Eid Ghadeer fell together. On this day, the Imam (a.s.) delivered a long speech and said, “This gathering shall soon come to an end and all of you will go back to your homes and families – may Allah shower His mercy upon all of you.

On this day, you should be kind to your families and do good deeds to your brothers. You should thank Allah for the blessings which He has granted you. You must also be sure to unite with one another so that through this, Allah may assist you.

Do good to others so that Allah makes your friendship firm and immovable. From the blessings which Allah has given you, give gifts to one another. On this day, Allah will give rewards (to you) in multiple folds compared to other days of celebration ('Eid). This form of reward cannot be attained except through this day (Ghadeer). Doing good to others and giving away much wealth to others increases the life span. Being a host to others results in the mercy and love of Allah descending upon you.

On this day, as much as you are able to, give your brothers and family a portion of the wealth which Allah has granted you. Always be smiling and in a happy mood when you meet one another; and be sure to thank Allah for the blessings which He has showered upon you. Go towards those people whose hope may lie in you and do good to them. In regards to your food and drink (on this day), ensure that between you and those who are under your care and supervision, there is equality. This equality and equity must be displayed to the extent of your ability (and you should know that) the reward of giving one dirham of charity on this day is equivalent to giving 100,000 dirhams of charity (on any other day) and the Divine bounty of this is in Allah’s hands alone.

Allah has also made it highly recommended to fast on this day and has promised a great reward for one who observes it. If a person was to look after the needs and necessities of his brothers, even before his own wishes and desires (were expressed to Allah), and if one was to look after their requests in the best possible way, then one would be granted such a reward that it would be equivalent to fasting the entire day and spending the entire night in worship until the morning hours.

A person who feeds another fasting person on this day will be equal to that person who went person by person and fed all of the fasting people (with his own hands). You must convey all that you have just heard to those who are not here. The strong and able people must go out in search of the weak people; the powerful must go in search of the oppressed, as these are all things which the Prophet (s) has commanded me to do.”

Imam 'Ali (a.s.) then read the Khutbah for Jumu'ah and performed the Salat al-Jumu'ah (since there is no special Salat for this 'Eid). He then went with his children and Shi'a to the house of Imam Husain (a.s.), where food was ready, and he distributed gifts to the Shi'a – both the needy and the free from need - who had accompanied him, and then instructed them to go home to their families[1].”
* * *
Insha-Allah, we hope that one day all Muslims of the world will mark the day of 'Eidul Ghadeer in such a great and magnanimous way and celebrate it as it deserves to be celebrated.

Hadith no. 34: Wilayat and Tawhid
The Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) has said, “The Wilayat of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib is the Wilayat of Allah; love for him ('Ali) is worship of Allah; following him ('Ali) is an obligatory act from Allah; his friends are the friends of Allah and his enemies are the enemies of Allah; fighting with him is (like) fighting against Allah; and making peace with him is (like) making peace with Allah, the Noble and Grand.”

Blessed is the person who obeys you and depraved is the person who disobeys you. One who follows you will succeed, while the one who turns away from you will be in a loss.”
Jami' al-Akhbar, Page 52, Hadith 9

Hadith no. 38: Islam in the Shadow of Wilayat
Imam as-Sadiq [Ja'far ibn Muhammad] (peace be upon him) has said: “The fundamental pillars of Islam are three: Salat, Zakat and Wilayat. No one of these will be valid unless accompanied by the other two.”
Al-Kafi, Volume 2, Page 18
Hadith no. 39: A Thousand Witnesses
Abu 'Abdillah [Imam Ja'far ibn Muhammad as-Sadiq] (peace be upon him) has said, “O’ Hafsa! I am surprised at what happened to 'Ali ibn Abi Talib!! Despite having tens of thousands of witnesses he could not claim his right when in reality a person needs only two witnesses to claim what is rightfully his!”
Biharul Anwar, Volume 37, Page 140

Hadith no. 40: 'Ali , The Commentator of the Qur'an

From the Prophet (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family), in his address on the Day of Ghadeer: “'Ali is the exegesis (Tafsir) of the book of Allah and the one who calls others to it. Verily, that which is permitted and forbidden is more than what I can explain to you; what I command you as permitted and forbid you as prohibited, is all from one position. I was commanded to take your allegiance and your pledge to accept what I brought from Allah, the Exalted, regarding 'Ali, the commander of the believers, and the Imams after him. O’ People! Ponder and understand the verses (of the Qur'an), observe those that are clear and do not follow those that are unclear; for by Allah no one can explain to you its limitations or clarify its meanings except the one whose hand I am holding (meaning Imam 'Ali).”

Merits of SALAWAT

Bismillah hir Rahman nir Rahim

Merits of SALAWAT

“The meanest person is he who does not invoke SALAWAAT upon me when my name is mentioned in his presence”.
(Kanzul Ummal Vol 1 p 489)

2. Abu Amamah reports that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said:
“ Invoke more SALAWAAT upon me on every Friday, the SALAWAAT from my ummah is presented to me on every Friday. Whoever had invoked more SALAWAAT upon me will be closest to me”.
(Kanzul Ummal Vol 1 p 488)

3. Anas reported that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said:
“O people, the most secured among you on the Day of Judgment against its horrors and menacing situations will be those who invoked SALAWAAT most upon me in this world. In fact, it was sufficient from Allah and his Angles, as He said: “Allah and his Angles send blessings on the prophet” (33:56), but He also commanded the believers to do so, so that they may be rewarded.
(Kanzul Ummal Vol 1 p 504)

‎4. Ibn Asakri has transmitted from al-Hasan bin Ali that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said: “Invoke more SALAWAAT upon me, for your invocation is conducive to your sins being forgiven. And pray for me a high status and intercession, for surely my intercession will plead in your favour before Allah”.
(Kanzul Ummal Vol 1 p 489)

‎5. The Prophet (S.A.W.) said:
“Say: “O Allah, send Your grace upon Muhammed and upon Muhammed’s progeny, the same way as You sent Your grace to Ibrahim, and bless Muhammed and Muhammed’s progeny the same way as You blessed Ibrahim among the nations. You are indeed worthy of all praise. Full of all glory ! And greet (me) as you have been taught.
(Kanzul Ummal Vol 1 p 496)

‎6. Abu Saeed says he said to the Prophet (S.A.W.) :
“O Messenger of Allah, this greeting is (to say) peace be upon you, but how do we invoke SALAWAAT upon you? “ He said: “Say O Allah, send your grace to Muhammed, your slave and your messenger the same way as you sent your grace to Ibrahim, and bless Muhammed and Muhammed’s progeny as you blessed Ibrahim and Ibrahim’s progeny.
(Transmitted by al Bukhari)
(al – Taj Vol 5 p 144)

‎7. Reported by Abdul Rehman bin Abu Layle who said that Ka’b bin Ujaira once met me and said: “May I bestow a gift upon you?”
The Prophet (S.A.W.) came to us and we said: “O Messenger of Allah! We know how to greet you, but how do we invoke SALAWAAT upon you?”
He said: “ Say O Allah! Send your grace to Muhammed and Muhammed’s progeny just as you sent Your grace to the progeny of Ibrahim. Surely You are worthy of all praise, full of glory”.
(al - Taj Vol 5 p 144)

‎8. Ali bin Ibrahim reported from his fathers who reported from Ibn Abu Umayr who reported from Abdulla bin Sinan who reported from Imam adiq (A.S.) that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said: “ Invoking SALALWAAT upon me and my Ahlul Bayt carries away hypocrisy”.
(Al – Kafi Vol 4 p 250)

‎9. A number of our colleagues have reported from Sahl bin Ziyad who reported from Jaffer bin Muhammed al Ash’ari, who reported from Ibn at – Qaddah who reported from Abu Abdillah (al Sadiq) A.S. that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said: “Do not treat me like a rider’s bowl of water; the rider fills it and then drink’s from it when he pleases. Keep me at the opening of you supplication, and at the end of it, and (also) at the middle”.
(Al – Kafi Vol 4 p 248)

‎10. Ibn Abu Umair reports from Abdulla bin Sinan who reports from Abu Abdillah (al Sadiq) A.S. that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said: “Raise your voices when you invoke SALAWAAT upon me, for it surely carries away hypocrisy”.
(Al – Kafi Vol 4 p 251)

11. The Prophet said: “Do not invoke incomplete SALAWAAT upon me”.
They said: “What is incomplete SALAWAAT?
He said: “When you say: O Allah! Send Your grace to Muhammed and then stop at that. Rather say: O Allah! Send Your grace to Muhammed and Muhammed’s progeny”.
(Al–Sawaiq al–Muhriqah chap II p 164)

Following the Path of the Holy Ahlul Bayt (A.S.)

Following the Path of the Holy Ahlul Bayt (A.S.)
(Knowing Allah, His Greatness and His Grace)

Imam Amir-ul-Mu'mineen Ali (a.s) said:
"Having the Greatness of the Creator in your mind would make you realize the insignificance of the creatures in your view."
Nahjul-Balaqah, Statement 129

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said:
" The heart is the sanctuary of Allah, therefore, do not settle therein anything but Allah." (The sacred place of the heart belongs to Allah and Him alone. Therefore, keep the love of the world out of it.)
{Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 70, p. 25}

The fourth Imam, Ali-ibn-ul-Husayn (a.s) said:
" There is no destruction (Hell) for a believer having three qualities: Confessing that there is no god besides Allah, the One Who has no partner; the intercession of the Messenger of Allah; and the vastness of the Grace of Allah."
{Safinat-ul-Bihar, p. 517}

( Prayer and Its Effects )
The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
" The one who takes prayer light is not of me. No, by Allah, such a person will not reach the Hauz, Pound of abundant."
{Man-La-Yahduruhul-Faqih, vol. 1, p. 206}

Imam Baqir (a.s) said:
" On the Reckoning Day , the First thing that a servant will be reckoned for is the prayer; therefore, if it is accepted, the rest (good actions) will be accepted, too, (otherwise, his other good deeds will not avail him)."
{Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 7, p. 267}

( At the last moments of his life, Imam Sadiq (a.s) called his relations and companions and told them):
"Verily, our intercession never reaches the one who takes prayers lightly."
{Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 82, p. 236}

Imam Baqir, the fifth Imam, (a.s) said:
" There are ten things that when a person meets Allah, the Almighty and Glorious, with them, he will enter Heaven:
1. Confessing that there is no god besides Allah,
2. And that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
3. Acknowledging what has come down to the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) from Allah (the Qur'an).
4. Establighing regular prayers.
5. Giving alms.
6. Fasting in Ramadan.
7. Performing the Pilgrimage (Hajj) to the Sacred House. 8. Kindness to the lovers of Allah.
9. Detachment from the enemies of Allah.
10. And, avoiding any alcoholic beverage."
{Khisal by Saduq, p. 432}

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
" At the (appointed) time of every prayer (salat), I hear a caller who calls and says:` O children of Adam! keep up prayers in order to extinguish the fire you have lit against yourselves (by committing sins)."
{Mustadrak-ul-Wasa'il, vol. 3, p. 102}

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
" The worship done by the one who earns his living on unlawful money is similar to a building constructed upon sand."
{Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 84, p. 258}

( Midnight prayers )

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said that Allah (S.W.T) in a revelation told Moses, the son of `Imran (a.s):
" O' you son of `Imran! those who only claim that they love Me, tell a lie, for when the night falls they neglect Me."
{Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 13, p. 329}
( Piety and Its Necessity in a Muslim )
The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
" The most (important) things that cause people to reach Heaven are divine piety and a good temper."
{Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 71, p. 373}

Abi-Osamah said that he had heard that Imam Sadiq (a.s) said:
" Be aware of (the punishment of) Allah, piety, godly endeavor, saying the truth, honesty in deposition, good character, and good neighborliness. Invite (others) to yourselves (by performing good actions), not with mere utterance. Live to be ornaments, and not to be disgrace of us. (I advise you) to prolong the length of bowing and prostration. So, verily, when one of you prolongs bowing and prostration, Satan cries from behind one and says: Woe! he obeyed and I disobeyed; he did prostration and I refused."
{Al-Kafi, vol. 2, p. 77}

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
" Surely, human beings from the time of Adam up to now are the same as the teeth of a comb are, and there is no superiority for the Arab over non-Arab or for the red race over the black race except for piety."
{Mustadrak-ul-Wasa'il, vol. 2, p. 340}

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said:
" Surely, a little action (of worshipping) with piety is better than many deeds with no virtue."
Al-Kafi, vol. 2, p. 76

( The Real Followers of Ahlul-Bayt and Their Qualities )

Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s) told Jabir:

" Is it enough for a person to (merely) embellish (oneself) as a Shi`ah (follower) by professing love of us, Ahlul-Bayt? Nay! By Allah, a person is not our follower except the one who fears Allah and obeys Him. O' Jabir! Our followers are not recognized save by humility; submission; honesty; praising Allah abundantly; fasting and prayers; filial devotion; attending to the poor, needy, debtors, and orphans who live near him; saying the truth; reciting the Qur'an; withholding the tongue from people except for benediction; and being trustworthy for relatives in any affairs..."
{Al-Kafi, vol. 2, p. 74}

Sulayman-ibn-Mahran said that he visited Imam Sadiq (a.s) while some of the followers (Shi`ah) were attending him (a.s) and he heard that the Imam (a.s), addressing them, said:
" (Behave) to be as ornaments for us and not to be against us as shame. Tell people of goodness, and protect your tongues and hold it from excessive talk and offensive speech."
Al-Amali, by Saduq, p. 142

( Sin and Its Effects )

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
" Do not look at the minuteness of the sin, but see Whom you have sinned against."
{Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 77, p. 79 & Mustadrak Al-Wasa'il, vol. 11, p. 330}

Imam Amir-ul-Mu'mineen Ali (a.s) said:
" If one of you desires to know his standing with Allah, he may evaluate his situation in relation to his sins against Allah; such is his worthiness to Allah, the Blessed and Exalted."
{Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 70, p. 18}

( Being Attentive to the Hereafter )

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said that:
the disciples of Jesus (a.s) asked him with whom they should make friends, and he (a.s) replied: " With one whose presence reminds you of God, his speech increases your knowledge and his deed inspires you (to work righteousness for) the next world."
[Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 1, p. 203]

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
" Man is influenced by the faith of his friends. Therefore, be careful of whom you associate with."
[Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 74, p. 192]

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said:
" Be the friend of he who may grace you, not of one whom you are better than." ( viz. make friend with ones who are higher than you so that you progress.)
[Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 76, p. 267]

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said:
" My most beloved brother is he who (makes me aware of) my faults."
[Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 74, p. 282]

( Kindness to Parents )
The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:

" Do treat kindly your parents so that your children do the same to you; and be pious unto the wives of people so that your wives remain pious."
[Al-Kafi, vol. 5, p. 554]
Imam Sadiq (a.s) said:
" Once a person came to the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) and asked him about good treatment to parents. Then, he (p.b.u.h.) said ` Treat kindly your mother, treat kindly your mother, and treat kindly your mother; be kind to your father, be kind to your father, and be kind to your father but begin (that kindness) with your mother before your father'."
[Al-Kafi, vol. 2, p. 162]

( The Rights of Children )

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) told Amir-ul Mu'mineen Ali (a.s):

Imam Amir-ul-Mu'mineen Ali (a.s) said:

[Wasa'il-ush-Shi`ah, vol. 22, p. 9]

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said:
" Allah, Almighty and Glorious, is pleased with the house wherein marriage takes place and is displeased with the house wherein divorce is found, and there is nothing with Allah more hateful than divorce."
[Al-Kafi, vol. 6, p. 54]

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
" Certainly, Allah, Almighty and Glorious, dislikes or curses any man or woman whose intention of divorce or marriage is merely tasting the pleasure of it."
[Al-Kafi, vol. 6, p. 54]

(Worldly Possessions & Greedily Compiling Wealth )
The seventh Imam, Musa-ibn-Ja`far (a.s) said:
" The likeness of this world is as the water of the sea. However much (water) a thirsty person drinks from it, his thirst increases so much so that the water kills him."
[Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 78, p. 311]
Imam Hadi, the tenth Imam, (a.s) said:
" People are respected in this world for possessing wealth and in the Hereafter for possessing righteous deeds."
[Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 78, p. 368]

( The Neglectful Slaves of this Deceitful World )
Imam Hassan-ibn-Ali (a.s) said:
" I wonder about the person who contemplates about his nutrition but he does not consider (the food of) his intellect. Thus, he avoids of what hurts him in his stomach but he lets his mind to be filled with what destroys him."

( The Expected Mahdi (a.s) and His Government of Justice )

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
" Al-Mahdi is of my progeny from the sons of Fatimah (a.s)."
[Sunan-i-Abu Dawud, vol. 4, p. 107]

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
" Happiness is for the one who will attend the Qaim of my Ahlul-Bayt and will follow him before his rise. This person will love his (Qaim's) lovers and hate his enemies, and will accept the leadership of the Imams from before his advent. These ones are my friends, and are the most sincere members of my Ummah whom I honour very much."
[Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 52, p. 129]

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
" Allah will raise a man from my progeny, from my Ahlul-Bayt, by whom the earth will be filled with justice thoroughly the same as it has been filled with injustice and oppression."
[Al-Musannaf, vol. 11, p. 371]

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
" The person who dies and has not known the Imam of his time (Imam Mahdi (a.s) is that of the present time) has died the same as one who died during the Age of Ignorance."
[Musnad-i-Ahmad-ibn-Hanbal, vol. 2, p. 83 & vol. 3, p. 446 & vol. 4, p. 96 Sahih-i-Bukhari, vol. 5, p. 13 & Sahih-i-Muslim vol. 6, p. 21, No. 1849 In addition to 25 other references introduced by Sunni scholars]

Imam Amir-ul-Mu'mineen Ali (a.s) said:
" When our Qaim rises, the sky will send down its drops, the earth will grow its plants, enmity will come out from the servants' hearts (in order that they live in peace and brotherly love), and savages and beasts will continue to live together peacefully. ..."
[Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 52, p. 316]

Abil-Jarud said: " I asked Imam Baqir (a.s) whether he knew
About my love and sincerity for him and he answered he did. Then, I said I had a question for him to answer me, for my eyes were blind and I scarcely walked, so I could not always go to visit him. He wanted me to express my question. I requested him to inform me of the creed by which he and his household adored Allah, Almighty and Glorious, so that I could worship Him, too, by it. He responded: ` You asked a great thing, though you stated a short expression. By Allah, I give you (your answer of) my religion and the religion of my fathers by which we worship Allah, Almighty and Glorious. It is: the confession of faith that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) is the Messenger of Allah, with affirmation that what has come to him (the Qur'an) is from Allah, having affection (for us and) for the lovers and obedients to us (Ahlul-Bayt) and hatred to our enemies, surrender to our cause, awaiting our Qa'im (the twelveth Imam, for whom there is a domination that will come whenever Allah wills), and endeavouring (for establishing divine obligatories and lawful matters) and being pious, (with avoiding unlawful things)'."
[Al-Kafi, vol. 1, p. 34]

Imam Baqir (a.s) said:
" When our Qa'im rises, sets his hand (authority) over the heads of the servants, then, he will give them intellectual development and completes their patience and insights. After that, Allah will extend their sights and their hearing so that there will be no barrier between them and the Qaim when he decides to speak with them, then they hear, and they can watch him while he is in his place."

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said:
" At the time of Al-Qaim (Al-Mahdi) (a.s) a believer who is in the East can see his (Muslim) brother who is in the West, and vice versa, the one who is in the West can see his (Muslim) brother who is the East."
[Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 52, p. 391]

Note: Dear reader! surely the existence of the means of communication such as satellites, televisions and the like can be helpful for us to understand this tradition although none of these technological devices existed when these precious words were uttered.

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said:
" He (Al-Mahdi) will stay (in a place close to the Kabah) between the Pillar and the Standing-place (of Abraham) and will call a call, when he says: ` O' group of my administrators and the prominent people of mine whom Allah has stored preparing for my triumph before my advent over the face of the earth! come to me obediently.' Then, his call will reach them while they are in their praying places and at home in their beds whether in the East of the Earth or in its West. So, they hear him with this single call which reaches the ears of every one, and, they totally respond (by coming to him) as well. Then, it takes for them but a moment that all of them gather there, between the Pillar and the Standing-place (of Abraham), attending him (a.s)."
[Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 53, p. 7]

Imam Mahdi (a.s) said:
" I am Al-Mahdi and I am the still-living one who will establish justice throughout the world the same as it has been filled with oppression. Surely the earth will never remain without a witness, and people will not live in lack of a leader.
[Kamal-ud-Din, p. 445]

Imam Mahdi (a.s) said:
" But for the incidents that happen (for Muslims), refer to the narrators of our traditions, (i.e. scholars), because they are my witnesses upon you and I am the witness of Allah upon them."
[Kamal-ud-Din, p. 484]

Imam Baqir (a.s) said:
O' Lord! we eagerly desire that thou assign us in the just, fair Islamic government, (the which is really the rightful government of Hazrat Mahdi, may Allah hasten his holy reappearance). Through his auspicious government, thou reactivate and dearly loved Islam and its followers while thou humiliate hypocrisy and the hypocrite. And, in that period, include us among those who invite people unto Thy obedience and lead them to Thy path of guidance; and, endow us the honour and grandeur of both this world and the next.
[Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 91, p. 6]
